911 Enable Completes Successful Interoperability Testing with Acme Packet Session Border Controllers

Industry leaders combine to ensure seamless E911 support for IP telephony deployments.

Montreal, QC – September 28, 2011 – 911 Enable, the leading provider of E911 solutions for IP telephony, today announced that its Emergency Routing Service (ERS) has successfully completed interoperability testing with Acme Packet's Net-Net® session border controllers (SBCs). This testing provides organizations with confidence that their critical 911 data will reach the ERS, without compromising the safety and integrity of their network.

The ERS is a monthly subscription service that delivers 911 calls and location information to Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) across the US and Canada, helping organizations of all types and sizes meet their state and local E911 regulations in a simple and cost-effective manner. It provides access to the largest E911 coverage area in the industry, ensuring seamless E911 support for the entire workforce, including remote locations and users. The ERS also enables organizations to define their locations to the building, floor, and room levels, thereby helping them meet the strictest of E911 regulations.

Acme Packet's SBCs interoperate with the ERS to ensure organizations can implement the E911 support they need. The SBCs prioritize SIP-originated 911 calls above all other SIP sessions, securely routing precise caller location information to the ERS for delivery to the PSAP. The Net-Net SBCs also provide failover and redundancy capabilities necessary for a resilient and reliable E911 call routing solution. To ensure the availability and performance of enterprise IP communications infrastructure such as IP PBXs and unified communications (UC) servers, Net-Net SBCs also prevent denials of service that could impact an organization's ability to communicate with emergency service personnel or other outside agencies.

“Completing interoperability testing with Acme Packet ensures that organizations using Net-Net SBCs have access to the full range of ERS E911 call routing capabilities,” said Lev Deich, Director of 911 Enable. “It helps keep users safe, and provides the advanced E911 features that today's communications networks require.”

“Secure prioritized access to emergency services is a critical requirement for all types of organizations,” said Mark Vella, Acme Packet's vice president of business development. “The combined functionality of our SBCs and 911 Enable's ERS helps organizations meet regulatory requirements as well as the security, interoperability and reliability needed for all modes of interactive IP communications.”
